Whale Watch

Today was our first dedicated "whale watch" day of 2009.  Bottlenose Dolphins spotted.

After the very difficult weather of the last number of weeks we had our first dedicated whale watch day today.

In glorious sunshine and very light winds we spotted a group of grey seals near the seal rocks. Shortly afterwards we got a fleeting glimpse of some bottlenose dolphins. Two animals were spotted on three occasions over a 30 second period. Its difficult to know if there was just the two or if we spotted a larger group.  The Dolphins were not in a mood to play and continued on in a south easterly direction.

Spirit gets biggest fish.

The first sea fishing competition of the year took place on saturday 4th july Seven boats with about 50 anglers took part and the largest fish was caught by Brian McLoughlin aboard the M.V. Spirit.
